This Mandala Offering Practice Set is handmade of 926 silver, carved by master from Patan, Nepal. This set has design of eight auspicious symbols around each of the layer.
A traditional multi-tiered mandala offering set, exquisitely hand-carved from copper. Representing all that is beautiful and precious in the universe being offered up to the Buddhas, mandala offerings generate immense merits that will help propel you towards Enlightenment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The base and rings of this mandala set are adorned with detailed hand-carved motifs and symbols inspired by the Eight Auspicious Signs such as the eternal knot, the Dharma wheel and the victory banner. A solitary turquoise stone is embedded on one side of the crown jewel and a coral stone on the other.
The mandala offering is one of the main preliminary practices in both Sutric and Tantric Buddhism. On the Sutric level, the generation of merits is necessary in order to gain insight into the Buddha’s teachings and commentaries. On the Tantric level, mandala offerings are compulsory to gain the realizations of the deity. As merits are essential in one’s spiritual growth, the importance of mandala offerings lies in their efficacy to gather merits in the shortest time possible.
The Mandala is a representation of the universe. Each layer is filled with offerings until the multi layered mandala is filled with coins, beads, jewels or rice. The 'universe' is then offered over the head to show you would give the entirety of existence to help others attain enlightenment. Offering a Mandala to the Buddhas as a symbol of offering the universe and all that is contained within it is one of the essential practices in Buddhism.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
